Post-Michael Forestry Seminar to be Held Dec. 13

DOTHAN, Ala.—Alabama Cooperative Extension System specialists, in conjunction with the USDA Farm Services Agency and the Alabama Forestry Commission, will host a post-Hurricane Michael forestry seminar geared toward helping landowners with storm-damaged timber.

Hurricane Michael uprooted many mature trees in South Alabama when it came through on Wednesday, October 10.

The meeting will be held Thursday, Dec. 13 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Houston County Extension Office.

Topics include:

  • Assessing your storm damaged forests
  • Post-Hurricane Michael timber markets and tax impacts
  • USDA FSA/NRCS update on federal programs
